Apple Reportedly Delays Standard iPhone 18 Launch Until 2027 Amid Foldable iPhone Rollout

A new report from South Korea suggests that Apple is reshaping its iPhone release strategy, pushing back the launch of the standard iPhone 18 model until the first half of 2027.

According to supply chain insiders, Apple is reorganizing its lineup to accommodate the long-anticipated foldable iPhone, which is expected to debut next year. As part of this adjustment, the standard iPhone will not be released in 2026, breaking from Apple’s usual annual cycle.

Industry sources reveal that Apple plans to launch the entry-level iPhone e-model alongside the standard iPhone during the first half of the year starting in 2027. Meanwhile, the second half of the year will continue to feature the premium lineup, including the iPhone Air, Pro, Pro Max, and the new foldable model.

One insider explained, “Apple aims to shift its schedule so that budget-friendly models arrive earlier in the year, while flagship and innovative devices are introduced later. The standard iPhone will temporarily skip a year to make room for the foldable iPhone launch.” Apple has reportedly communicated these changes to its component and material suppliers.

The updated timeline means that in 2026, consumers will see the iPhone 17e in the first half of the year, followed by the iPhone 18 Air, Pro, Pro Max, and the highly anticipated foldable iPhone in the second half. From 2027 onward, the standard model will return in the first half, raising the lineup to six new devices annually.

Analysts believe this strategy is designed to boost iPhone sales by balancing entry-level releases with premium launches. By staggering models across both halves of the year, Apple ensures that its new products—ranging from affordable options to cutting-edge foldables—receive strong market attention.
