Army Chief Asim Munir Directs Full Pakistan Army Support for Flood Relief in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

RAWALPINDI – August 15, 2025: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has instructed the Pakistan Army to extend maximum support to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) as devastating floods continue to wreak havoc across the province.

According to military sources, special directives have been issued to speed up rescue and rehabilitation efforts in flood-hit districts. Additional army contingents have been deployed to assist local authorities in providing emergency aid and restoring damaged infrastructure.

Army Donates Salaries and Rations for Affected Families

The Pakistan Army has contributed one day’s salary from all ranks to support flood victims. Over 600 tonnes of rations and relief goods have already been allocated for immediate distribution among displaced families in KP.

Engineers & Rescue Teams Mobilized

The Corps of Engineers has been ordered to carry out urgent repair work on damaged bridges and set up temporary crossings where necessary. Meanwhile, the army’s specialized Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) teams—including sniffer dog units from the 9th Division—have been deployed to locate survivors and assist recovery operations.

Helicopters Assist in Flood-Hit Areas

Army aviation units, including helicopters, are actively participating in relief missions, delivering food supplies, evacuating stranded families, and transporting the injured to safe locations.

“The Pakistan Army stands shoulder to shoulder with the resilient people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during this testing time,” security officials reaffirmed.

Torrential Rains Leave Nearly 200 Dead Across KP

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported that heavy rains, cloudbursts, and flash floods have killed at least 198 people in districts including Battagram, Bajaur, and Mansehra. The casualties include 163 men, 14 women, and 12 children, while over 20 individuals have been reported injured.

Dozens of houses, schools, and community infrastructure have been washed away, with landslides further complicating rescue operations.
