CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sets Final Deadline for Water Filtration Projects
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has issued a strict deadline of June 30, 2026, for the completion of all water filtration plants across Punjab, with special emphasis on ensuring clean drinking water for rural and underdeveloped regions.
Presiding over a high-level meeting in Lahore, the CM reviewed progress on several key initiatives, including the Model Village Scheme, Lahore Development Project, and other ongoing development works in different districts.
During the session, Maryam Nawaz stressed that the government’s top priority is to resolve the clean water shortage faced by the people of Punjab. She instructed officials to design a comprehensive plan covering construction, timely repairs, and long-term maintenance of the filtration infrastructure. “Work must be completed within the timeframe, ensuring both quality and sustainability,” she directed.
Focus on Punjab Development Projects
Apart from water supply projects, the Chief Minister also assessed the pace of road repair and construction works under the Lahore Development Project. Expressing dissatisfaction, she showed concern over the slow progress and delays, urging authorities to accelerate efforts.
Maryam Nawaz also received a detailed briefing on 122 beautification schemes underway across Punjab’s major divisions. These include:
Lahore Division: 51 projects
Rawalpindi: 64 projects
Faisalabad: 37 projects
Multan: 75 projects
Sargodha: 45 projects
Gujranwala: 64 projects
Dera Ghazi Khan: 51 projects
Bahawalpur: 61 projects
Gujrat: 53 projects
Sahiwal: 493 projects
She instructed that all beautification works must be finished within the stipulated deadlines, highlighting the importance of quality control and timely delivery.
Commitment to Inclusive Growth
The CM also reviewed proposals for installing water pumps in far-flung villages, reaffirming her vision of inclusive and balanced development across Punjab.
With these initiatives, Maryam Nawaz’s administration aims to transform Punjab through modern infrastructure, improved public services, and better access to clean water, marking a new chapter of growth for the province.
