Mohsin Naqvi Launches Major Crackdown on Illegal Constructions in Islamabad’s Saidpur Model Village

ISLAMABAD, August 21, 2025 – Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has ordered a massive anti-encroachment operation in Saidpur Model Village, targeting illegal constructions and unauthorized land occupations that have expanded over the past two decades.

According to official reports, more than 200 unlawful structures have already been demolished, while authorities successfully reclaimed 191 kanals of land belonging to the Margalla Hills National Park from land grabbers. Several buildings occupied for years without rent were also vacated during the operation.

The crackdown is being carried out across all 360 kanals of land where encroachments and unauthorized construction have taken place since 2005. Officials confirmed that no individual or group would be given exemption in the process.

Naqvi’s Visit to Saidpur Model Village

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi personally inspected the ongoing operation and reviewed the beautification and upgradation projects in the historic village. He directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and District Municipal Administration (DMA) to ensure strict action against violators and stressed that all recovered properties must be auctioned in a fair and transparent manner.

Naqvi praised the CDA’s performance and emphasized that restoring Saidpur’s heritage and natural environment is a top priority. He also revealed that renowned restaurants from Karachi and Lahore will soon be introduced in the village to boost its appeal for both locals and tourists.

“The revival of Saidpur will not only enhance the beauty of Islamabad but also provide citizens with a vibrant recreational and cultural hub,” said Naqvi.

Future Plans for Saidpur as a Tourism Hub

The minister reaffirmed his commitment to transform Saidpur into an international-standard tourist and commercial destination, equipped with modern facilities. He instructed CDA and DMA teams to maintain cleanliness and restore the green core areas of the village.

During the briefing, CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa informed Naqvi that satellite imagery was being used to identify illegal structures built after 2005. Senior CDA officials, the Additional Deputy Commissioner General, and SSP Operations also accompanied the minister during his visit.
