PPP to Grant Homeownership to 2 Million Women in Sindh: Bilawal
QAMBAR SHAHDADKOT: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has announced that more than two million women in Sindh will soon become homeowners under the Sindh Peoples Housing Project for Flood-Affected Families (SPHF). He described this step as the beginning of a quiet social revolution that will transform society and empower women for generations to come.
During his visit to New Tharo Wadho village in Taluka Mirokhan, District Qambar Shahdadkot, Bilawal personally handed over homeownership certificates to flood-affected women. These women, who lost everything during the devastating floods of 2022, are now being given secure homes through what Bilawal called the world’s largest free housing scheme.
Women Empowerment Through Housing
Addressing the gathering, Bilawal emphasized that providing land and houses directly in the name of women is a historic decision by the PPP-led Sindh government. According to him, this initiative will not only ensure shelter and stability for millions of families but also give women a stronger social and economic position within their communities.
He said:
“This is not just about building houses. This is about dignity, empowerment, and creating a more equal society where women are recognized as rightful owners of property.”
Sindh Government’s Commitment
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari praised the resilience of the flood survivors, acknowledging their courage during one of the most challenging times in Sindh’s history. He stated that the Sindh government is working tirelessly to complete the project at record pace.
The newly constructed houses are being equipped with:
Solar energy systems to ensure sustainable electricity,
Proper sanitation facilities for improved health and hygiene, and
Disaster-resilient designs to protect families from future climate shocks.
A Landmark PPP Initiative
Calling the project a “landmark achievement of the Pakistan Peoples Party,” Bilawal reiterated his party’s vision of pro-poor development, women’s empowerment, and climate resilience. He added that this housing initiative demonstrates the PPP’s commitment to rebuilding Sindh after the floods and laying the foundation for long-term social stability.
Observers believe that this ambitious project could reshape rural Sindh by reducing gender inequality, strengthening communities, and improving living standards for millions of flood-affected families.
